Heil Sound is an American audio equipment manufacturer founded by Bob Heil in 1966 and based in Fairview Heights, Illinois. The company built its early reputation in professional touring sound, notably designing a custom PA system for the Grateful Dead at the Fox Theater in St. Louis in 1970 and going on to provide live sound for The Who, Humble Pie, Joe Walsh, ZZ Top, and others. Bob Heil is also credited as the inventor of the Heil Talk Box, the vocal effect made famous by Peter Frampton and Joe Walsh.

After decades focused on amateur radio products, Heil Sound returned to professional microphone manufacturing in the late 1990s at the suggestion of Joe Walsh, launching the PR 20 dynamic microphone. The company now specializes in large-diaphragm dynamic microphones for broadcast, podcast, live sound, and studio use. Well-known models include the PR 40 and PR 30 broadcast mics, the PR 77 D, the PR 35 and PR 37 vocal microphones, the Fin, and instrument mics such as the PR 28, PR 31 BW, PR 48, and Handi Mic Pro Plus.

Heil Sound also maintains a separate line of amateur (ham) radio microphones, headsets, and accessories under the Heil Ham Radio name. The brand is distributed worldwide and is often cited for its focus on off-axis rejection and large-diaphragm dynamic capsule design in the broadcast and podcast space.
