Description
Embrace the clarity and ruggedness of the Heil PR 22, a dynamic microphone that stands as a testament to uncompromised quality in the realm of studio and live sound reinforcement. Stripped down to its essence without skimping on performance, the PR 22 maintains the high standards set by its predecessor, the PR 20, offering a wide frequency range and the ability to handle over +140dB SPL. Its -35dB rear rejection capability ensures that your recordings are insulated from unwanted background noise, making it a versatile tool for a myriad of professional applications.
What sets the PR 22 apart is its unique internal sorbothane suspension system, designed meticulously to minimize handling noise, a common grievance among professionals. Coupled with a special magnet structure and a large aluminum 1-1/8" low-mass voice coil assembly, it promises an articulate sound across a smooth 50Hz-18kHz frequency response. The precision-engineered phasing plug assembly, with its strategically placed ports, further refines its performance, offering a linear cardioid pattern that mitigates the proximity effect. This microphone not only captures the essence of your sound but does so with the reliability and durability that Heil Sound microphones are known for.
The PR 22 doesn’t just excel in performance; it is also a symbol of practicality. Delivered in a leatherette carrying bag with essential accessories, it eschews the non-essential for a focused, quality-centric experience. Ideal for vocals and a wide array of instruments, the PR 22 replaces the antiquated "ball mic" with modern sophistication and sonic integrity, all without the need for phantom or outside DC powering.

Truly amazing microphone
One of my favorites. Spectacular off-axis rejection, clear and loud sound. I used it live until I got my EV ND76, now my brother uses this. Can't wait to someday try the PR35

"For Slayer, Quinby notes that “kick drum is the main source for Slayer.” His approach is to outfit drummer Dave Lombardo’s kit with two Shure Beta 91As for the interior and two Heil PR 48s for the exterior of the kick drum. Heil PR 31s (top) and PR 22s (bottom) are the choice for snare"
