HEIL the Fin - Ultimate Review

moonrakeronline.com

With vintage aesthetics and robust build, the Heil Sound The Fin microphone dazzles both visually and sonically. Its lightweight design, travel case, and choice of colors add practical flair, while the outstanding upper mids ensure superb audio quality for both live and studio settings. However, the review leans heavily on its cinematic appearance, perhaps overshadowing more nuanced performance attributes. Overall, a compelling blend of style and function, favored for those who value looks as much as sound.

Great for live vocals- Ok for studio work

The Heil Fin is a cardioid pattern, phantom powered, dynamic mic that can be used in live contexts as well as in the studio. It has a very nice, solid build weighing in at 26.4 ounces. Heil is known for a quality midrange response, and this mic doesn't disappoint in that regard. Frequency response is between 60hz and 18khz, with the most clear sound coming through around 4 kHz. Overall this mic excels in live performances, boasting a blue LED on the inside if you needed any added stage presence. My only criticism is that I've found that the upper mid range and high frequencies can cut through a little too much in my studio recordings- especially because my voice naturally occupies those upper frequencies so I have to do more post work in eq'ing them out. Overall, an excellent product for its price! The Heil Fin is available on Sweetwater and Amazon.com for between $220.00 and $250.00
