reFX is a software synthesizer company founded by German developer Michael Kleps. Incorporated as reFX Audio Software Inc. and based in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, the company has established itself as one of the most widely used virtual instrument developers in electronic music production.

The company's flagship product is Nexus, a synthesizer plugin that has become a staple in genres ranging from EDM and trance to hip-hop and pop. Originally designed as a ROMpler — playing back high-quality sampled sounds rather than synthesizing from scratch — Nexus evolved with version 5 into a full-featured synthesizer offering virtual analog, wavetable, FM, granular, and sample-based oscillators. The plugin ships with thousands of factory presets and offers an extensive library of expansion packs spanning genres like techno, house, hip-hop, and orchestral. reFX also develops Vanguard, a virtual analog synthesizer first released in 2004 in collaboration with Markus Krause of Tone2 Audio. After being discontinued in 2016, Vanguard was revived as Vanguard 2 in 2022 with an overhauled interface and new synthesis features. Earlier reFX products include QuadraSID, a Commodore 64 SID chip emulator, and The BassLine, a Roland TB-303 emulation.

Nexus has been adopted by a wide range of electronic music producers and composers including Tiësto, David Guetta, Armin van Buuren, Marshmello, Zedd, Kygo, Junkie XL, Jean-Michel Jarre, and Above & Beyond, among many others.

reFX has 10 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Synth Plugins, Virtual Instrument, and Complete Collection. Their gear is featured by 285 artists, with the strongest followings in Electronic, Pop, and Hip Hop. Notable users include K-391, Skrillex, and Avicii.
