Founded by Mike Castoro in Austin, Texas, Wunder Audio is a boutique manufacturer of professional recording equipment specializing in microphones, preamps, equalizers, and analog mixing consoles. Castoro, a recording engineer by training, began his career running Stardog Studio before becoming a vintage gear broker through Misty Hill Audio. His experience restoring and trading classic microphones led him to begin manufacturing his own equipment in the late 1990s, with Wunder Audio's microphone line launching in 2003. The company's microphones — including the CM7, CM12, CM67, CM49, and CM50 — are meticulous recreations of sought-after vintage Neumann and AKG condenser microphones from the 1960s, built with hand-wound transformers.

Wunder Audio's product line extends beyond microphones to include the PEQ2 and PEQ4 Class-A discrete microphone preamplifier/equalizers (inspired by 1970s Neve circuits), the PAFOURplus four-channel mic preamp, the PEQTube tube preamp, and 500 Series modules like the Cobalt mic pre and Allotrope EQ.
