Aaron Harris uses Sonor Designer Set Aaron Harris uses Sonor Designer Set

"Aaron: All my toms are square sizes. 10X10, 14X14, and 16X16. I really like square sizes. The 10X10 sounds really great. The shells are maple, and the finish is birds eye maple. My snare is a 14X5.5 Tama hand hammered bronze. It’s the only snare I’ve ever used. I love that snare. Same snare on every record. Even with my new band Palms."

Daniel Kim uses Epiphone Embassy Pro Daniel Kim uses Epiphone Embassy Pro

In various Wave to Earth live performances, when John Cha would move to guitar, Daniel would take over bass duties using John's basses. In the picture seen above, Daniel is seen playing John's Epiphone Embassy Pro bass, finished in Vintage White, with 2 mudbucker pickups, 2 volume knobs and 1 tone knob, and an Ebony fingerboard. The bass itself still belongs to John Cha, but Daniel would only borrow it for certain songs with John on guitar.

Don't listen to the forums!

I bought this to compensate my pretty one sided bass sound (two precision basses) and as soon as i had this instrument in my hands and heard it's sound I immediately disregarded all the blasphemy thrown its way by the wonderfull people of the bass forums. The neck humbucker sounds absolutely enormous and the minibucker compensates the lack of high end although you do have to raise its volume for optimal sound. It sits right in the mix with little to no eq. I personally love to turn the tone all the way down and solo out the mudbucker for smooth bluesy sounds, but it also sounds great with overdrive, fuzz, distortion and any modulation I threw at it. The one gripe i have with this bass is the ergonomics. You do need to wear a wider strap to prevent the neck dive and even then it would be clever to keep a hand on the body just in case. However, you quickly get used to this problem with extended use. You could probably add a counter-weight on the body or something if this really bothers you. But aside from that my experiences have only been good.

Thurston Moore uses Vintage Quest Manhattan M-3 Electric Guitar Thurston Moore uses Vintage Quest Manhattan M-3 Electric Guitar

Used briefly by Lee in '87, this guitar appeared again, this time played by Thurston, in the "Dirty Boots" video. It can also be seen on the back cover of "Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star". If you watch the clips from the 11/03/88 Toronto show here you can see Thurston is using this guitar, presumably for "Silver Rocket"?

Lee Ranaldo uses Hagström Viking Electric Guitar Lee Ranaldo uses Hagström Viking Electric Guitar

Lee Ranaldo is confirmed to use a Hagström Viking Electric Guitar, as evidenced by a photograph from the March/April 1985 Europe tour showing the sunburst guitar at his feet. Additionally, there is an image of Ranaldo playing this guitar with a screwdriver behind the 9th fret while Kim Gordon is singing and playing bass. Further images taken by Petra Gall on April 17th, 1985, show Thurston Moore using the same guitar, prepared with drumsticks, indicating its use in performances around this period.
