After manufacturing sticks for brands including Zildjian and Vic Firth, grandsons Ron and Alan Vater launched the company's own branded drumstick line in 1990. By the mid-1990s, Vater had become one of the top five American drumstick manufacturers.
Vater produces hickory and maple drumsticks, brushes, timpani mallets, marimba mallets, vibraphone mallets, specialty sticks, and accessories such as practice pads and stick bags. Their Player's Design series features signature models developed with endorsing artists, offering customized specifications in weight, taper, and tip shape.
