Put the sustain knob above about 9 o'clock and this pedal gets so noisy it's unusable--at least with single coils. Took me forever to figure that out because I generally assume that putting everything at noon is a good place to start. I thought the pedal was just noisy in general until I saw some explain how the sustain knob.

Each side has switches for low, medium, or high gain and soft clipping, hard clipping, or both. That adds up to sooooo many options to play with. I mostly use the right side as a low gain base tone and the left side as a clean boost.

I would have bought this pedal no matter what it sounded like--because of its looks, its ACAB message, and because Black Mass donates a portion of its proceeds to BLM and trans organizations. But it turns out this pedal sounds great, too! I was always less of a distortion, more of a fuzz+overdrive person, but I'm loving having this on my board! All the different clipping options mean there's lots to explore.

I tried digital delays and analog delays before finding my way to the el cap. I'm generally more of a reverb than delay person. Love the el cap because it has hidden reverb onboard and because the tape age and wow/flutter settings lend so much character to the repeats that it almost feels more like a reverb than a delay.
