Glenn Danzig's Gear
In thi video at 1:54 Danzig starts talking about the gear he used in Misfits. "I used a lot of old gear, old custom amps with big "15 and "18in speakers to get that big thick sound. Pedals too. I found the original dallas (something) jumbo fuzz that I used in The Misfits." Meanwhile while he's talking about the gear, pictures are being shown with the gear that he used in The Misfits days.
I have been trying for YEARS to figure out what this guitar was. I thought it was a Gibson knock off, or a modded Epiphone. then I found one on eBay.
A flat top single cut with a really wide openbook headstock. Glenn seems to have replaced the stock truss rod cover which is the only thing branding the guitar.
The GK-55 is basically a stripped-down model based on the 1955 Gibson Les Paul, before the company began to produce the Les Paul Special. It is a flat-top 55 body style, dark sunburst or black, two "T top" humbuckers, no binding, dot inlays, and a bolt on neck. The GK-55 also came equipped with the TP-6 fine-tuning tailpiece. These were made in the Gibson plant in Kalamazoo, MI in 1979. the GK stands for Gibson-Kalamazoo.
The Gibson model GK-55 was produced for only two consecutive years in short runs. Although the exact quantity produced is a matter of debate, the general consensus is that only around 1000 were made.
You can see Glenn holding the guitar in the pic.
In this video Danzig can be seen with a Kramer GS Axe Guitar.
UG: "You were really looking for those classic guitar sounds from back in the day."
Glenn: "Yeah. I was looking for all old pedals and stuff cause I wanted a really cool phase shifter sound but none of those Plug-ins on the computer sound like anything except crap. So while I was digging for all these old pedals and trying em all out at all these different music shops, I found this box I'd been lookin' for forever with the original Misfits. It was a distortion box I used to use which was a Dallas Arbiter fuzz."
UG: "But you did find one at a music store?"
Glenn: "Yeah, so there it was sittin' in this box and I'm like, Does that thing work? and the guy goes [in salesman's voice], Let's plug it in and see. And I plug it in and go, Oh, hell, yeah; great. I've been lookin' for one of those for like 20 years. When I blew up back up in the day there was this guy that was fixin' ended up beating a guy who used to hang out with Les Paul and George Benson and everything and he died. And all my stuff, my old Vox Super Beatle PA head and all this other stuff all got like in his estate and I never got it."

In this video from 0:00 to 1:51 Danzig can be seen with his Les Paul, Danzig stated: "My guitar, it's a Les Paul... I don't play anything else but a Les Paul, it's just something about it, it's a great guitar...."
In the Pinterest image titled "Devil's playin .... | DANZIG," Glenn Danzig is associated with a VHT Pittbull Ultra Lead amplifier head, visible at the top of a rack mount. Although it may be part of John Christ's setup, the image indicates Danzig's use of this gear.
You can see the power amp at the bottom of the rack mount.

In an interview on TVCASUALTY.COM, John Christ recalls recording the first Danzig album using various amplifiers, with the Bedrock 1200 Series Amp Head being the primary choice until it failed. The early Bedrock models, known for their powerful sound due to high plate voltages and a hot bias, were also notoriously unreliable and prone to tube failure. Interestingly, attempts to replicate Danzig's iconic "Mother" using a later Bedrock 1000 model have yielded remarkably similar results, highlighting the distinctive sound of these amplifiers.
