The Carvin SH225S is a wild semi-hollow from the '80s. German engineered and then sent to the Carvin factory for finishing, pickups, trem and assembly/set up. Amazing neck, and thinner body make it a dream to play. High end components/materials per Carvins norm. Easy to shred on. Now like more then a few guitars-the pickups aren't to everyone's taste and tone is subjective. Generally Carvins pups seem to be a little polarizing. I've seen a few with Seymour Duncan A2pro(Same as Slash uses in his LP copy). It all depends what tone you're after. Mini switches are at the ready to colour your tone(series/parallel/single coil mode). The 225s aren't cheap (average selling price $1300US) but worth every penny and sometimes they come up for a deal on auction sites. So, If you favor being a card carrying member of the Gibson ES club then this might not work for you. If you fly a bit against the grain- then not only is this a superb playing/looking guitar-but it also stands out in a crowd of 'the norm'. 5/5 stars

h my god, another 80s SH225 owner!
this was my third guitar I think, maybe 4th and I loved it until the cheap mini switches started to wear out... its a bitch to work on the wiring harness in the extra thin body... FYI, this is actually an 80s hofner verithin with a carvin headstock, picups, electronics/pickups
