This comprehensive music software suite brings the iconic sounds of Korg's legendary synths, the MS-20, Polysix, and Mono/Poly, right to your digital workstation. Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Korg Legacy Collection (Analog Edition).

Features and functionality

  • The Mono/Poly VST works best with the MS20 controller, which offers more than 127 steps per knob, enhancing control precision.

    Source
  • The M1 VST offers all expansion cards, a feature not easily found on the used hardware market, making it a versatile choice for iconic pianos and organs.

    Source
  • Arturia's Analog Lab allows for seamless preset management across all synths in its collection, making it convenient to favorite and sort presets centrally.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • The Polysix VST is favored for basslines, even over a Moog Voyager, with its bass layered in tracks for added depth.

    Source
  • The V Collection is recommended for Tangerine Dream-inspired music, as it features synthesizers used by the band, unlike Korg’s ROMpler-based synths.

    Source

Software and compatibility

  • Owners experienced no issues with the Korg Legacy Collection registration, contrary to some forum complaints.

    Source
  • The Korg VST Collection's engine reportedly hasn't changed since 2005/6, except for possibly increased voice count, but new high-resolution interfaces are a marked improvement.

    Source
  • The Korg Collection requires internet for initial authorization, but not for regular use, unlike some software requiring constant connectivity.

    Source

Value and pricing

  • Arturia offers frequent sales and upgrade deals, especially appealing when bundled with hardware like the KeyLab Essential 49.

    Source

User experience

  • Some users feel Arturia's skeuomorphic plugin design enhances the experience, despite some plugins sounding "plastic-y" or "sheeny" compared to originals.

    Source
  • Previous versions of Korg software used Synchrosoft dongles; some owners miss this simpler "set and forget" method compared to current login-based systems.

    Source

Setup and maintenance

  • Users find Korg's individual authorizations for each VST cumbersome, preferring a single combined installer for ease of use.

Korg Legacy Collection Analog Edition 2007 review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

Korg's Legacy Collection (Analog Edition 2007) is a nostalgia-infused powerhouse, featuring emulations of classic synths that are both true to the originals and enhanced with modern conveniences. The standout Mono/Poly offers a satisfying blend of polyphonic and monophonic capabilities, with flexible oscillators and a versatile modulation matrix that synth enthusiasts will love. While the collection boasts high-quality sound and rich features, it can be dauntingly complex, and the inability to use Mono/Poly within the Legacy Cell is a notable limitation. Overall, it’s a valuable upgrade for fans of vintage synths, despite the steep learning curve.

worth it for the Wavestation

The Poly6, Monopoly and MS20 are above average virtual analog synths with the features of the hardware they emulate and a taste of the old Korg filters (the MP and P6 are closer than the MS20), but this pack is worth it to get the 2 Korg digital classics which really bring the post-DX7 goodness. The wavestation is whatsup being one of the few vector synthesizers in the VST format that sounds really musical (and really easy to program compared with a hardware wavestation thanks to the multi-screen GUI).
