Description

Unleash the evocative power of the Sonora Cinematic Poiesis Cello, a virtual instrument that brings the soul-stirring timbre of a legendary cello to your fingertips. Crafted for composers and sound designers who crave organic textures and avant-garde techniques, this Kontakt instrument is a gateway to lush soundscapes and striking sonic palettes. Whether you're composing a haunting score or experimenting with modern classical, the Poiesis Cello is designed to inspire.

The Poiesis Cello was meticulously recorded in a dry studio environment using three high-end microphones—a Neumann U87 large diaphragm condenser, an AEA R84A ribbon, and a Schoeps CMC/mk4 small diaphragm condenser. These microphones capture the cello's intimate essence, allowing you to shape and sculpt its sound to suit your creative vision. Additionally, a pre-rendered stereo mix is available for a resource-efficient, ready-to-use option, ensuring the cello sounds exceptional straight out of the box.

At the heart of this instrument is a 1995 Moes & Moes cello, crafted for and once owned by the legendary Yo-Yo Ma. Played by Alan Black, principal cellist with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, the Poiesis Cello encapsulates the artistry and history of a world-class instrument.

The plugin offers two distinct patches: "Textures," a two-layer instrument with 43 articulations that can be seamlessly blended using your keyboard’s mod-wheel, and "Shorts," featuring three velocity-sensitive short articulations with multiple dynamic layers and round robins, including a sharp snap pizzicato.

Key Features:

  • Two patches: Textures and Shorts
  • 43 articulations for rich, customizable soundscapes
  • High-end mic recordings: Neumann U87, AEA R84A, and Schoeps CMC/mk4
  • Pre-rendered stereo mix for easy, resource-friendly use
  • Requires Kontakt Player 7 or higher, compatible with VST, AU, AAX

Sonora Cinematic Poiesis Cello review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

Sonora Cinematic Poiesis Cello crafts an intriguing sonic palette, showcasing its potential for experimentation with captivating textures and a dry acoustic. While the unique sound design and layered articulations invite creativity, the limited number of prepared patches may deter some users seeking immediate usability. The overall package is engaging but requires effort to unlock its full capabilities, making it both a unique tool and a bit of a challenge for those unprepared.
