Critic Reviews

Spitfire Audio Albion One

soundonsound.com

Spitfire's Albion One is a robust orchestral library that builds on its predecessor's legacy with substantial improvements. It features a grand 109-player orchestra recorded at London's AIR Studios, capturing the iconic hall sound across multiple mic positions. The library excels in delivering lush string textures and dynamic brass, ideal for media composers seeking instant orchestral impact. While the pre-orchestrated approach simplifies composition, it limits access to individual sections, which may disappoint traditionalists. The collection's rhythm loops and synth sounds enhance its versatility for contemporary scoring. Despite a limited articulation menu for brass and woodwinds, Albion One successfully offers the essential tools for crafting epic cinematic music.

Spitfire Audio Albion One review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

Spitfire Audio's Albion One is a triumphant upgrade to its predecessor, providing a richer and more articulate orchestral experience. With samples from 109 players and a reworked Kontakt Player GUI, it offers expanded orchestral size and improved sound quality. The library retains its user-friendly design, facilitating quick orchestral writing with easy-to-access articulation and control features. While it shines with enhanced orchestral and electronic hybrid sounds, it notably lacks any major criticisms, making it a compelling choice for both new and returning users. A stellar evolution in Spitfire's library offerings.

Beautiful rich timbres with limited individual instrument usage

I would highly recommend this library for anyone who wants to work particularly with full sections of instruments and get an amazing sound of these larger sections. For those who want close control over individual instruments, I would not recommend this library. I want both, so I use this in conjunction with Eastwest Hollywood gold for the best of both worlds!
