Okay.
Big ol' footprint sonically in most applications but that's no shocker. THD engaged it can go further in that direction.
Drums. Drums & room mics. Big ol' snare cracks. Pap!
The original EMI settings are marked in white on the LARGE pots on the LARGER GUI & it does evoke a similar feeling sound to those we've all grown up with.
They're there if you want 'em but they've included more options than on the original EMI & it's a welcome addition. The Mid-Side & the Sidechain options are helpful in getting this to sit right quickly as well.
Comp settings are: Comp 1, Comp 2, Limiter
Capable of sounds not totally unlike the character of my Distressors...particularly on the Nuke setting.
Not something I reach for often honestly, but it has been handy here & there. It can make what you want pop if you need it to pop...
It does appear on more mixes than just my own songs...for what that's worth.
I've not used Chandler Limited's hardware EMI makes so I can't make a comparison & I don't know what's to be gained with that kinda of thinking.
Get creative with this if ya like. It's good for that. Nice surprise. Easy to over use...
Use with care.

I gotta try this because I've used the legit Zener in a few studios and really know what she sounds like! I was really into this guy and the germanium tone control for awhile. Shit was allover my drum bus when iw as at Drexel University or Miner Street while they had those Chandlers... abbey road compressor too.

Just hearing the real deal on YouTube it has massive balls. This ain't all that, it's trying & falling short (from my 2nd hand experience)...like all the emulations, except I find this one pleasing despite any shortcomings. If you got this in hopes of it sounding like the original I think you'd be disappointed...

I'll work on a video demo so you can hear it crackin'.

Oh yeah, didn't mention where this really doesn't live up to the real deal (or so I imagine)- Bass. It only gets ya about 30% of the way there. Bummer.
