In an interview with Modern Drummer Official, drummer Jimmy Chamberlin confirmed his use of Vic Firth Modern Jazz Collection 4 Drumsticks. At the 8:07 mark, Chamberlin states, "These are the Modern Jazz 4, Vic Firth. They're maple. What I love about them is just the dark cymbal (sound from) the bead, right? That's such a great sound." He further explains that he was looking for a versatile stick that could handle both straight-ahead and rock music, and he found these drumsticks to be ideal due to their lighter weight and unique grain structure compared to hickory, which avoids producing an "annoying kind of pingy sound."
