In a performance video on Fishman Music's YouTube channel, Javier Reyes of Animals As Leaders is seen playing a custom seven-string nylon guitar based on the ESP Ltd Thinline Series.

Javier can be seen playing this guitar throughout the video. He specified the brand and model of the guitar in both the title and description of the video. This guitar was custom designed and made for Javier by Ortega Guitars in Spain. More information about this can be found in the brand's official website.

Javier has said in this Premier Guitar interview that he used this guitar to record the song "The Brain Dance" on the band's fourth album, THe Madness of Many.

This video shows Javier playing a guitar made by the illustrated Luthier. The pickup in the neck position is a neodymium powered Q-tuner for 8 string guitar. Q-tuner pickups are renown for their extended frequency response and superb clarity.

In response to whether he was using the Axe Fx for the new record:

"I’m still running the Axe-Fx... . I’m also using a Sub Machine fuzz octaver pedal from MXR on “The Brain Dance.” That’s the only third-party pedal I’m using outside of my Axe-Fx."

At 5:55 you can see Javier is also using a Dual Rectifier head on stage.

In this video, Javier talks about his fishman signature set. He states that he was always a fan of passive pickups because of the wide range. he states that he was reluctant to try fishman because he didn't want to change from what he was using. Once he tried fishmans, he liked that they has an almost high definition quality that traditional active and passive pickups don't have. He loves that the split coil position gives him the tone he loves, without a loss in volume.
