Brilliant
As a hobbyist bedroom producer, it is important to get very decent speakers at an affordable price. These will do more than just that. They give a very nice, clean sound in the highs and mids. However they do not register under 50hz which is pretty good in my book as it doesn't really concern me dealing with anything under that frequency mark. As a starting off point of upgrading your equipment, this is the real deal. The Room Control function is great cause unfortunately my room is pretty small so I'm nearly up against the wall, because of that it delivers more bass response which it isn't what you want. You want it to deliver true sound. So I use the room control to compensate for the bass. If you want more bass you'd have to get the Yamaha HS8S which is a subwoofer. Overall a 9/10 I love these, both producing wise and for just playing music in general.

I am going to have to say that 50 cycles per is pretty low but still musical and worth hearing, plus if you have a lot of super low rumble that you don't hear there is a likelihood it is soaking up bandwidth in your master bus and headroom in the amplifier even though your woofer is not voicing it.....
@jimmarchi1 Since these have bass reflex on them, if they were to be up against the wall you would get an unnecessary amount of bass coming back. 50hz is a reasonable amount and I don't hear any rumbling at all.

Neutral monitor for reasonable price
For the price, these are the best near-field monitors in my opinion. They don't exaggerate certain frequencies (like the low end with KRK's), and very good response. Probably the most neutral sounding monitor you will find for below $600/pair at retail. My only concern is that they are ported in the back, so placing them right against a wall may increase the sound of the lower frequencies. However, there are settings in order to accommodate to this, but you can only adjust the low-end from 0db to 02db, so I wish there was an option for more fine tuning. But once you have them set up right and positioned correctly, they are awesome!

Amazing Monitors
Absolutely love these. They're super easy to use and they are really powerful for being so small. Definitely a great buy if you're new to the game, nothing will help you more than having some good monitors. The only trouble I have with mine is that they seem to be extremely sensitive, so whenever I leave my computer on and the screen goes black, my audio interface will power down causing my monitors to make the horrid popping sound. Other than that, 10/10

Great flat-response monitors for a smaller bedroom studio. I love the way they look with my setup and they maintain an authentic flat sound even in a room with poor acoustics.

Best monitors for the budget!
If you have a small studio space, you cannot go wrong with the Yamaha HS5's! The sound coming out the monitor is nice and flat. Since they are the 5" monitor's you will get less bass response as opposed to the 8" monitors. This isn't a problem once you get accustomed to them. If you really need the extra bass you can pick up the Yamaha HS10 sub woofer or simply pick up the HS8'S.

We use almost three years. Great speakers for bedroom studios. MID frequencies are very nice and the speakers have almost flat response. But we would like more power in the lows. Everybody should consider buying a sub with this speakers.
