Alright, so this one’s a bit tricky. Basically, it looks like in 2002-03 Mikey used a Jazz Bass with a pretty distinct Silver Flake finish. The reason why my eye turns to this bass specifically is the narrower headstock detailed with a black finish. In the photo, you can see the black headstock, along with the prominent flake. The only difference between the product picture and the picture of Mikey’s bass would be the white pick guard (however, Mikey later cited this Jazz Bass as inspiration for his signature Mustang model, so it would be understandable if at one point he’d seen the Jazz Bass with a black pickguard.) While this bass seems pretty unlikely to be in the hands of a just emerging bassist, Mikey seemingly accredited someone nicknamed “Hambone” (presumably a member of Thursday) with giving him his first bass and bass amp. It's believed this bass was destroyed in 2003-2004 when Frank Iero forgot to lock the storage boxes whilst touring and it, along with other band gear fell onto the highway, and although Iero "Risked life and limb" trying to save the bass, however without luck, as told by Way and Iero in an Instagram story by Fender Custom Shop when receiving their new guitars.
"I have an Aguilar Agro for distortion" - Mikey Way at 10:00.
"As far as other bass equipment - I use the Fender Super Bass Man. From the minute I took it out of the box I was in love, and won't use anything else. Not only does it sound HUGE. but the range of sounds and tones you can get is uncanny. Highly recommended."
