Work Horse Bass

The American Standard Jazz bass was the first bass I purchased. Mine is a 2010 model, before Fender started putting their custom shop pickups in the standard series instruments. I choose a Jazz because of the smaller neck profile in comparison to a Precision bass. This bass has had some issues, none of which was the basses fault. We then bass was shipped to me, the G string was buzzing. I brought the bass to a guitar shop in my town, who ended up filing the nut and grinding the frets down. Needless to say, I will not be returning to him. I have since had a new bone nut installed on the bass and it is back to its former glory. This bass demands attention, cutting through the thickest mixes. The mid range attack is reminiscent of players such as Jaco Pastorius. Having to pickups available also opens you up to a huge variety of tones. Since owning the bass, I have upgraded the pickups to the custom shop jazz bass pickups that Fender is putting in the current model of these basses. I've found that these are much closer to original standard jazz bass pickups that the pickups that were used in the 2010 models. You cannot go wrong with one of these basses.

The classic original

This needs no introduction, if you know what it is you know why you need it! The neck is thin like a dream. Probably not for the metal player, but does just about everything else fantastically. I used to have a Ricky 4001 but I prefer the Jazz by a mile.

A high quality and versatile bass

I have found the Jazz Bass to be very well built, playable right out of the box but really shines with some setup. Beautiful sound and tons of control with the pots. You can dial in a smooth Motown sound or a hard hitting classic rock all the way up to a hi-fi modern sound. The Jazz Bass is my go-to bass for any venue because I know that it can play any sound out there.

I bought this bass (Olympic White/Rosewood Fretboard) not too long ago and it is honestly one of the best basses to play in my opinion, the tone is so versatile and it feels amazing, i would recommend it to anyone.
