Billy Corgan's Gear
"…Machina marked Corgan’s first real departure from his fleet of Fenders, instead using a Les Paul Junior reissue with P90 pickups that often ran through a Crate practice amp. An SIB Varidrive and a host of Moogerfooger pedals were also used to add to Corgan’s sonic repertoire."
Visible at 6:50 running into his Strategy 500, Billy was seen using this at Pinkpop 94.
At 2:07 you can see it in billy's pedal stache
At 0:59 minute mark, Boss CE-5 can be seen under the Musonic Phaser.
At 2:40 minute mark the Boss SG-1 can be seen very clearly.
"Kevin Shields turned me on this company... these are on eBay right now, for like over a thousand a piece..." says Billy about the Lovetone Ring Stinger at 2:41.
At 3:11 minute mark, you can see Boss DM-3 on the lower level of his effects shelf. You can tell it's not a DM-2 because of the small knobs (DM-2 had regular-sized knobs)
"This Fender Rhodes Piano Bass is from the private collection of Billy Corgan.
This is one the earlier models with the centered knobs and funky colored fiberglass top. It is in mostly pristine condition, exceptionally clean for its age. The only signs of wear are two areas of slight surface stress on the fiberglass top (see photos). It is otherwise in min condition.
This Piano Bass plays comfortably and cleanly across all 32 notes, without any issues. The volume and tone knobs work as they should."
"This Vox Westminster V118 Head is from the private collection of Billy Corgan.
This was not used in the studio or on tour to Corgan's recollection. It was a part of his personal collection.
Cosmetically, this Vox head is looking good for its age. There's dust worn into the tolex, and there are a couple tiny nicks. There is one large tolex tear on the bottom left corner. Vox gave these head plastic corner covers. As a result, 5 of the 8 have cracked off. It is otherwise clean. Structurally, there are no issues.
This is a 120W solid state amp head that Vox put out in the mid-1960s. The bass input channel works fine, with both controls operating cleanly. The guitar input side, however, has a dirty volume and treble pot that need addressing. The pot is particularly scratchy and cuts out below 2 with volume. The amp itself sounds great, with an operation Top Boost switch."
billy can be seen playing a Rd-2000 at 6:15 in this video.
When we started working with Billy Corgan on the pickups for his signature Strat®, we sent him several models to try out. He liked the Air Norton S™ in the neck, The Chopper™ in the middle and The Tone Zone® S in the bridge. After playing them on several gigs, he asked for some changes in the neck and bridge pickups. He wanted a deeper sound from the low strings without losing any punch, and he didn't want the sound to get muddy with high-gain amps. To do this, we lowered the frequency response of one of the the coils in each pickup just enough to boost the bass while opening up the mids. The end results are the pickups that are now in Billy's signature Strat®. They do exactly what he wants in humbucking mode and he's found they work really well in split mode as well.
His signature Fender hardtail model has three humbuckers, including The Chopper.

"Developed with Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins for his signature Reverend guitar. This unique design brings the clarity and articulation of a P90—but beefed up—and boasts some of the thick tone of a humbucker. A mild midrange bump imparts a slight “cocked wha effect” adding punch and weight with heavy distortion or fuzz. A versatile pickup that sounds great clean or dirty."

"Developed with Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins for his signature Reverend guitar. This unique design starts with the classic vintage P90 output and tone, then we add a dash of extra treble chime to the recipe, creating a tasty tone with extra articulation. For the player who appreciates open, sparkling cleans and throaty overdriven tones."

"This Regal Dobro Bass is from the private collection of Billy Corgan.
This Dobro was originally purchased for D’arcy for some acoustic Pumpkins shows, but only used a couple times.
This Dobro bass is in great condition, with a like-new, unblemished finish. The metal hardware, including the resonator plate, has lost its luster, though.
The strings will definitely need replacing, as this bass hasn't been used in a long time. It plays solidly, albeit with slightly high action. The single lipstick pickup works fine.
This bass will ship in a non-original hardshell case originally meant for 335 type guitars."
Billy has a vamp pre amp in his live rack. This amp has a fuzz mod in it.
In a Premier Guitar Rig Rundown video, Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins showcases his Mars Preamp by Salvation Mods, which is part of his live rig. This custom preamp is based on the Marshall "Soul" amp, which he has used in several performances with the band.
