Simply a Ring Modulator and Fuzz Octave. More than that - it's a face melting optical synth engine of pinkness.
It is sweet germanium fuzz octave and with a stomp gives you what you could never have thought to ask for - and it's got an optical jack that let's you treat it like a pink box of theremin essence. It sweetens the deal while in a moment of anger gives you a demon and lets you gliss it up to higher ground or down to the bottom tectonic rubbing grind. It's a thing unto itself and wears nail polish pink - and only the Ring Stinger can make it look so good and sound so good and hurt so bad.

This article on the making of Marr's 2018 Call the Comet album by MixOnline.com touches on some of the gear used during the recording process. "The use of pedals on all the instruments is prevalent on Call the Comet. Marr favors Carl Martin pedals for their musicality: Delayla for delay, Plexitone for distortion, AC-Tone for overdrive. He also likes Lovetone’s Doppelganger, Ring Stinger, Brown Source and Big Cheese for more extreme modulation and flange effects."
"Kevin Shields turned me on this company... these are on eBay right now, for like over a thousand a piece..." says Billy about the Lovetone Ring Stinger at 2:41.

"Ed mainly uses the pedal like a guitar-synth, with his playing controlling the pitch of the pedal’s VCO. It’s best heard on I Might Be Wrong, where Ed loops notes played through the Ring Stinger to create the synth-like textures at the intro and near the end of the track."
