Introducing the Roland RD-2000 88-key Stage Piano, the epitome of professional musical instruments. Engineered with dual sound engines, this state-of-the-art stage piano powers Roland's finest acoustic and electric pianos, presenting the most responsive keyboard action Roland has to offer. Boasting over 1,100 additional sounds and advanced master controller capabilities, the RD-2000 is prepared for any musical endeavor.
The RD-2000's dedicated acoustic piano engine leverages Roland's latest modeling technologies to render amazingly realistic grand piano sounds. Its complex, multi-dimensional tones resonate with profound depth and clarity across the keyboard's full dynamic range. A second SuperNATURAL sound engine perfectly recreates classic electric pianos from the '60s, '70s and '80s, including the iconic RD-1000 and MKS-20.
Experience unparalleled playability with the PHA-50 progressive hammer-action keyboard. It features hybrid keys made of wood and molded materials, replicating the feel of an acoustic piano with rugged durability. The advanced sensor and hammer mechanisms translate even the most subtle performances into precise sound. The PHA-50's slightly narrower keys and moderate key dip provide a familiar feel for experienced players while remaining accessible to beginners.
During performances, the RD-2000's intuitive interface ensures effortless navigation. Nine sliders and eight knobs provide instant control over sounds and effects. Eight assignable zones let you map sounds to specific key ranges or create combination presets with up to eight layers. Save up to 100 keyboard setups to recall instantly during a show.

Powerful Keyboard from the hardware perspective
Hardware is awesome, keybed is very good for a classical pianist trained. I use it as a MIDI controller most of all, but I've used the Expansion for Piano and works amazing live. Also some synth samples let you get very classic sounds without much effort, of course it lacks from the synthesis, but works perfectly considering pianos have infinite polyphony and you can stack 8 layers of different sounds (7 if you consider a piano in the first layer).

So reliable - So familiar - So good
The Roland RD-2000 sounds so good, feels so good, and is so intuitive to use. I live blending in strings and pads to the foundational awesome electric piano or natural piano tines. If you can, I'd get one!

As a controller it has the same keybed. The hardware in general is good, I had the first version and worked well until I sold it (used it 10 years straight with no problem)
$2,200.00 - $3,189.99
It uses the same tech to generate the sounds - but JP-X doesn’t have such a variety of pianos.
