Buddy Guy's Guitars

"This is his main axe here...He likes this one, the tone of it, specifically. It actually was made in 89," says Buddy Guy's guitar tech, in this rig rundown video.

A more in-depth and technical look into the guitar can be seen in this YouTube video with a Martin rep:

"We got a call from Buddy Guy… and we got into a conversation about what his optimum guitar would be and you know, Buddy is into polka dots, he wears polka dot shirts, and polka dot pants, and polka dot shoes, and he thought he had to have a polka dot guitar and this is a little bit over the top for us but we got down right into it and using re-composite turquoise stone, executed the inlays around the rosette, on the bridge, the bridge pins… the fingerboard with Buddy’s initials on the 12th fret and even the Martin logo on the top with the turquoise material. Buddy likes to plug in and we gave him a volume and tone control. He does a lot of little acoustic nuances with his volume and tones. This is about as untraditional as Martin ever gets but very cool and over-the-top."

Buddy Guy is associated with a 1961/1962 Gibson Les Paul SG Custom, as featured on the cover of his album "I Was Walking Through the Woods," released in 1974. Although the album was recorded between 1960 and 1964, this suggests Buddy used the guitar during that period. According to GroundGuitar, Buddy kept the guitar at his home until discovering a cracked headstock, after which he gave it to his nephew for repair.
