Buddy Guy
Buddy Guy's Guitars
"This is his main axe here...He likes this one, the tone of it, specifically. It actually was made in 89," says Buddy Guy's guitar tech, in this rig rundown video.
Most recently, Buddy has been playing a ’72 Telecaster Deluxe onstage, together with a similar blue/white polka-dot Custom Shop Telecaster.
Buddy’s ’72 Tele Deluxe features brown finish, maple neck, and it has a pair of Fender Wide Range humbuckers.
As published on the Fender website, Buddy Guy has number of limited and standard signature Stratocasters.
In this Ernie Ball advert, Guy is visible playing the Guild Nightingale. This photo dates back to 70's-80's, when Guy had an endorsement deal with Guild.
This was Buddy’s first electric guitar. He bought it in Louisianne, and used on his very first single “Sit and Cry (the Blues)” released in 1957. Shortly after this session, his Les Paul was stolen, and unfortunately never recovered.
In this picture, you can see the last gig of Stevie Ray Vaughan at Alpine Valley of Eric Claptons massive 1990-91 Journeyman World Tour in which Guy is playing a 1987 Fender Eric Clapton Stratocaster in Torino Red finish. The use of exactly this Clapton Signature guitar is also recalled in Christie's 1999 Eric Clapton Crossroads auction catalogue on page 88/89.

A more in-depth and technical look into the guitar can be seen in this YouTube video with a Martin rep:
"We got a call from Buddy Guy… and we got into a conversation about what his optimum guitar would be and you know, Buddy is into polka dots, he wears polka dot shirts, and polka dot pants, and polka dot shoes, and he thought he had to have a polka dot guitar and this is a little bit over the top for us but we got down right into it and using re-composite turquoise stone, executed the inlays around the rosette, on the bridge, the bridge pins… the fingerboard with Buddy’s initials on the 12th fret and even the Martin logo on the top with the turquoise material. Buddy likes to plug in and we gave him a volume and tone control. He does a lot of little acoustic nuances with his volume and tones. This is about as untraditional as Martin ever gets but very cool and over-the-top."
Buddy Guy is associated with a 1961/1962 Gibson Les Paul SG Custom, as featured on the cover of his album "I Was Walking Through the Woods," released in 1974. Although the album was recorded between 1960 and 1964, this suggests Buddy used the guitar during that period. According to GroundGuitar, Buddy kept the guitar at his home until discovering a cracked headstock, after which he gave it to his nephew for repair.
Guy was an artist of Guild and he used Starfire models (specifically Starfire IV's) during 1970's. In this 1979 advert, Guy is seen with his Starfire IV.
Played in the early ’80s, although not consistently but mostly for blues-heavy stuff.
Buddy is rarely visible with guitar like this, but at Mahindra Blues Festival in 2012, during jamming with Ana Popovi?, he briefly used the Epiphone Sheraton II.
In this photo, Guy is visible with Stevie Ray Vaughan signature Stratocaster.
In this article, it talks about Buddy Guy's acoustic guitars. It reads, "The acoustic that Guy sometimes features in concert is the JC Buddy Guy model built by Martin. 'The guitar is as unusual as anything we’ve done,” said Dick Boak, the company’s Director of Museum, Archives and Special Projects. 'Buddy had a J-40 Jumbo Martin that he loved,' Boak recounts."
In a photo from Texasrockreport, Buddy Guy is seen playing a Fender Stratocaster Electric Guitar, highlighting its use in his performances.
Buddy Guy is noted for using the Guild Starfire II, as highlighted in the "Starfire II ST Featured in Guitarist Magazine" article by Myrna Cazessus on Guild Guitars.
