"I'm using Epiphone guitars because I'm an Epiphone endorsee. I use the Epiphone SG-400 and I convert that into a two string. I have a Hartke amp, a 3500 which has a really snappy, upfront, punchy sound and distorts nicely. It has a nice gain structure in it and a multi-band EQ which I love too. I also have a deal with them too so most of my stuff comes from those two companies. Andrew our guitar player has a Gibson endorsement so uses those guitars and a whole array of funky old pedals something I don't use at all."

Chris is clearly seen to be playing an Epiphone Sg 400 in multiple live peformances. Chris' sg is strung with two bass strings, A 60 and 36 guage. All of the electronics appear to be stock. The most recent peformance and the best documented proof of Chris using an sg is PUSA's pefromance at LowLands live 2008.

"After truing several string combinations, Ballew settled on .060 and .036 GHS strings. Gauge-wise the .060 falls into bass-string territory, but he gets them from a guitar set."

"'Well, kind of a bass amp,' he clarifies. 'It's a Music Man Model 65. It's got this hybrid guitar/bass sound, and it's set up like a guitar amp, but they call it a bass amp. I don't know what I would use if I didn't have that thing.' The 65-watt amp--admittedly low-powered for a hard-rockin' band--drives an old 2x15 Kustom tuck 'n' roll speaker cabinet. It was originally black, but Ballew spray-painted it gold."
