"I actually write beats in Logic. I feel like the layout of Logic is much more, I guess, sexy. Ableton is definitely more intuitive, and you can do more with Ableton. I think eventually I'm gonna switch over, but it's a little bit of a learning curve to get the mixdowns sounding the same way they do in Logic... because Ableton is a little bit weird like that.

I use all the stock logic EQs, I love em I think they sound great."

"I use massive a lot and I use the Performer a lot, the Performer is genius. If I run out of ideas I'll just hit randomize, maximize all the values and just bounce out whatever I have over like an 8 bar period, and then you get some really interesting things. And then you take the parts that sound the coolest, you sample it, then you start arranging. Then once you arrange it, then you throw the fx over top of it."

Datsik performs live using Ableton. He says "I have the DJM-900 MIDI mapped in Ableton, so, I just hit the 2 buttons on and then I remap the effects so I can use my own fx out of Ableton directly off the mixer."

In another interview he says "...I do DJ with Ableton which allows me to change up my set and it works really well for changing up entire performance or doing stuff on the fly."

In a separate interview, Datsik explains his setup in more detail: "On my right I have one Mac dedicated to DJing in which I use Ableton live for that. So, that is fed into my DJM 900, which is like the 800 but it has a built in sound card and USB input. So that one line allows with to work with four separate channels of music."
