Edgar Winter extensively used the ARP 2600 synthesizer throughout the 1970s, notably on the albums "Standing Rock" and "Frankenstein." Initially, he utilized it as a keytar upon its release. A user-uploaded photo on Flickr provides visual evidence of his association with the ARP 2600. Today, Winter primarily plays a Roland keyboard.

Edgar Winter played an RMI Electra-piano in the early ‘70s. This instrument is featured throughout his 1970 debut album Entrance, and he can be seen playing one on the picture sleeve for the single “Free Ride.” In this photo from an early concert, a model 300A can be seen on stage. The Electra-piano seen on the “Free Ride” single is a later model — either a 300B or 368.
