Eric's longtime No.1 used to be an early 60s Jazzmaster (which he felt was a bit too bright through a Fender amp), but replacing it now is this '60s non-reverse Gibson Firebird that is favoured because of its meaty mini-humbucker in the bridge position.

From YTG: This is the first vintage guitar I bought. I used it to record the Young the Giant song Firelight on our album Mind Over Matter. It plays beautifully, and sounds incredible. The original pickup sounds great. I got it professionally set up, so it has new tuners, but i’ll include the original tuners. It also comes with the original case, which is in excellent condition, and has pink interior!

Sold on Reverb.com.

From YTG: This was Eric's touring acoustic during the Mind of Matter and early Home of the Strange album cycles. It sounds great acoustic, or plugged in, and is in very good condition.

ethorthedinosaur Hi. Huge fan, recently saw you guys on the Home of the Strange Tour in Houston, TX. My question is about musical equipment itself. What pedals or guitars are particularly your workhorses? Listening to your albums, all of them have such particular sounds and I'm curious as to how you garnered such specific sounds. Much love, thanks.

YoungTheGiantBand Helllloooo. its eric. I play a revelator guitar onstage. its like a small bodied fender with one humbucker/ one tele pick up. I love eventide, earthquaker, moog, jhs and greer pedals. in the studio i usually play fender guitars but recently got an old Gibson firebird which is my go-to studio guitar now. It has two mini humbuckers.

From YTG: Bought this at Main Drag Music shop on Brooklyn NY, a few years back. The neck has bowed a bit, but it is still playable. I took off the lower octave, so right now it is set up similar to Nashville tuning, but just the higher octave strings. Cool guitar!

Great Yamaha NTX900FM classical electric/acoustic guitar! I've owned this guitar since around 2013. It is unique because although it is a nylon string guitar, the neck is the size of a standard acoustic, which makes it a great guitar for new players, or someone who is looking for a classical sounding guitar, with a slightly smaller neck. It also plugs in, and has a tuner/ EQ, with a new battery in it. Cosmetically there are a few small scratches around the body that don't effect the sound, and aren't very noticeable.

Listed by Cannata on Young the Giant's Reverb.com shop in 2020, under the title "Gibson Les Paul Deluxe 1970's Tobacco Burst Owned By Eric Cannata of Young the Giant".

Great condition 1970's Gibson Les Paul Deluxe in Tobacco Burst. I bought this guitar from a little vintage shop in Venice Beach, Ca called the Perfect Piece a couple years ago. It plays and sounds amazing. The pickups are original mini-humbuckers, which I think sound somewhere between full range hum buckers and single coils. The action is low and there's no noticeable fret wear. Cosmetically there a few tiny scratches or dings that mostly aren't really noticeable. The back of the headstock has a scratch, as you can see in the pics. There is also some light corrosion on the tailpiece, but it doesn't effect the sound or playability. I never toured with this guitar, but have used it in the studio, and it's mostly been in my home studio. Im selling it because I don't find myself using it very often, and want someone to play it! I tend to play more fender single coil style guitars, and want this to get into the hands of someone who wants the Les Paul vibe! Comes with a nice fitted case as well.
