Erik "Ripley" Johnson's Gear
For performances with Moon Duo, Johnson amplifies the sound of his** Eastwood Airline Guitar** with a Fender Twin Reverb. You can see it clearly at the beginning of this video.
I’m running my guitar through an MXR Distortion Plus, it’s like an early ’80’s late ’70’s distortion pedal. There’s an MXR Phase 100, a Geoffrey Tease Real McCoy wah pedal and this Big Muff, I forget what it’s called.> - Erik "Ripley" Johnson at Positive Destruction (positivedestruction.wordpress.com) 14/11/2011
Erik "Ripley" Johnson uses the Mooer E-Lady flanger pedal in his setup with Wooden Shjips, as documented in the EarthQuaker Devices blog post, "Countdown to Levitation."
In all performances with Moon Duo, Erik "Ripley" Johnson plays with an Eastwood Airline '59 3P. It is definitely his main reference guitar: almost aways of white color and sometimes black.
Also, he has a custom version with simplified volume and tone, Transwarp Drive and toggle switch below the bridge.

I’ve been tweaking my pedal board lately but right now it is: TC Electronics PolyTune 2 > Teese Real McCoy Custom wah > Earthquaker Devices Gray Channel > MXR Phase 95 > Strymon Brigadier delay > Klon Centaur > Ditto Looper X2. Plus I have the built-in “Transwarp Drive” on my custom Airline. I use it for a boost, or, if the Gray Channel is engaged, to add a little more dirt.

Erik "Ripley" Johnson uses the Electro-Harmonix Nano POG Polyphonic Octave Generator in his recording setup with Rose City Band, as seen in a post on the band's Instagram.
The amp was mentioned in an interview with Eastwood Guitars.
In the US, I use my ’68 Fender Twin Reverb when possible. If renting, I get a '65-reissue because they’re available nearly everywhere. My first amp was a ’70’s Fender Quad Reverb, which I still have, but it’s just too big and heavy to lug around.

In this photo, which shows Johnson performing on December 12, 2013 in Glasgow, Scotland at SWG3, he is seen playing a Gibson SG Standard with added Bigsby vibrato.
