Guy Chadwick is seen playing an Epiphone Casino in a natural finish with a black pickguard at 1:14 in the official music video for "Shine On" by The House Of Love, as published by TheHouseOfLoveVEVO on YouTube under Mercury Records Limited in 1990.
Guy is seen playing a red Gibson ES-335 at 2:12. Possibly a 1980s Dot version of the guitar.
In the live performance video "The House Of Love - 'Christine' (live 1988 UK TV appearance)" from the South Bank Show Arts Review, December 1988, Guy Chadwick's Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus amplifier is clearly visible behind him at 1:43. The Jazz Chorus is identifiable by its distinctive control layout and shiny tweeters, as captured in the video by Aerium UK on YouTube.
”I bought this Epiphone Sheraton in 1985 for £250.00 and The House Of Love was born! It was the first semi-acoustic I’d ever owned and it was love at first sight. I couldn’t afford a Gibson 335 so this was the cheaper alternative but I actually prefer it. (I subsequently owned two 335’s and sold them both). It’s much lighter in weight so good for live work. It was used on all the records especially the early ones and Terry used it on the first version of Shine On. This is the one of two guitars I’d never part with. When recording, ninety percent of the time I will use this. It’s great for a slightly overdriven clean sound . It’s particularly featured on two tracks on the new album called Sweet Water and State Of Grace. I had it restored three years ago and it cost the same £250.00 as the original price!” Read 2025-01-04
I attended a gig by the House of Love on Thursday March 26th at The Parish venue in Huddersfield. This is a photo that I took with my iPhone of Guy Chadwick’s pedalboard, and the Boss Space Echo RE-202 can clearly be seen.
At a House of Love concert on March 26th 2026 at The Parish venue in Huddersfield, a photo taken by an attendee clearly shows Guy Chadwick’s pedalboard, where the Electro-Harmonix Micro POG Polyphonic Octave Generator is visible.
I attended a gig by the House of Love on Thursday March 26th 2026, at The Parish venue in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, U.K.. This is a photo that I took with my iPhone of Guy Chadwick’s pedalboard, and the Robert Keeley Katana Mini can be seen at the back of the board. It was difficult to get a good photo of the whole board from the ground ad the stage was higher up, but as an eyewitness, I can confirm that it was definitely a Keeley Katana Mini.
