When a fan asked him "the basics of making a small studio," Laidback Luke mentioned the E-Mu Xboard 49 MIDI Controller.

When asked what sound card he would recommend for a beginner, Laidback Luke tweeted, "@zaid1415 I'm currently using the Apogee One, it's portable, affordable and high def sound!"

Laidback Luke's favorite synths are Korg M1, Sylenth1 and Massive.

Laidback Luke uses the FabFilter Pro-L Limiter on his master channel. He tweets "I only use the @FabFilter Pro-L on my master for mashups. When I make edits in @ableton it doesn't degrade."

He recommends this plugin several times, again saying "Try and use the Fabfilter Pro-L limiter instead [of the stock Ableton one]. That's a very clean and clear limiter."

One of Laidback Luke's preferred synths is the Korg M1.

When asked for advice on the best free VSTs to create big sounds, Laidback Luke says "Try any synth from CM (Computer Music) I made the Break Down The House bleep with the CMZebra for instance."

Laidback Luke was asked "I can't seem to get the sub bass to really rumble. How do you tweak your bass so there's rumble and you can hear its notes?" He replied "Try the plugin called Sub Boom Bass by Rob Paapen. You'll need to have proper low end in your sound to EQ it right."

Laidback Luke talks about being able to run many instances of the Gladiator synth on his Mac.

When asked how he makes the "vinyl break" effect in his tracks, Laidback Luke says he uses the Effectrix plugin.

Laidback Luke says the CamelCrusher, along with Ableton's Saturator, are his favorite plugins for distorting bass.

In his remix of the song "Hello" by Karmin, Laidback Luke used the Saurus synth.

When asked what the best, most realistic piano plugin/VST is, Laidback Luke says he uses 4Front TruePianos.

To achieve a stereo widening effect, Laidback Luke says "I just use the free plugin called 'mda stereo'"

In his master chain, Laidback Luke says he uses The Glue plugin.

Laidback Luke uses the T-RackS classic limiter in his mastering chain.
