My father and two of his partners built these guitars from 1982-1985, and Matt Murphy was the first to take them out on the road with him. The link to my Drive folder has two sides of one brochure printed with Matt's picture playing this guitar.

TG: Amps and guitars at this time?

MGM: By that time, it was mostly Gibsons, a hollowbody 335 and 345. I played through a Fender Twin Reverb, and sometimes a Quad Reverb…that’s the one with 4 speakers in it.

In the film The Blues Brothers, Matt "Guitar" Murphy is seen using a heavily modified 1960s Gibson SG Special Electric Guitar. The modifications include a refinished body and headstock, a mirror pickguard, the removal of the tremolo, and the installation of a Stop Bar and Tune-O-Matic bridge. The original P90 pickups were replaced with Dimarzio Humbuckers. This appearance is documented in the YouTube video by Juanjo de Goya, titled "The Blues Brothers - Sweet Home Chicago - 1080p Full HD," where Murphy performs the song "Sweet Home Chicago."

In a YouTube video titled "Blues Brothers Band - The thrill is gone" by whatiship73, filmed in Pori, Finland in 1989, Matt "Guitar" Murphy is seen playing a Fender Red Knob 'The Twin' Amplifier. At the 5:29 mark, the amplifier's distinctive standby and power switches, as well as the red knobs, are visible, and the text "The Twin" is barely readable. This evidence is supported by other recordings from the same era that also show Murphy using the red-knob 'The Twin'. Additionally, in this performance, Steve Cropper is on stage with his own 'The Twin', which is also visible in parts of the video.
