This is the early version of the Evil Twin

I got this amplifier in the late Eighties/early Nineties. The channel switching is great and also this has push pull knobs to change the equalization. You can get a great saturation and also drop the power with a switch.

The effects loop is great and the XLR out works well. The speakers were great and also have no breakup at lower volumes.

I worked as a band technician for Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds (while Blixa Bargeld was a member) and also for Einstuerzende Neubauten (where Blixa is the lead vocalist) on all tours between 1990 and 2000. Blixa owned a Fender "The Twin" with JBLs and always insisted on one when we rented backline overseas, so he was very specific about that amp.

I play a Fender The Twin live—usually the red-knob version. They distort too much if you turn them up, and their volume and tone controls are totally different than those on other Fenders, but if you back the bass off and turn the treble up, you’ll get a really good clean sound.
