Mike Starr's Gear
If you watch Would? In the music video, you can see that his Spector bass has black tuners which the NS-2a basses had, and dotted fret markers which the NS-2A basses also had. The bridge is black with black tuners and hardware like NS-2A basses have so this is the case. However I’m almost positive he recorded Dirt with a NS-2.
"in case anyone is interested, i got an email from Evan Sheeley from bass northwest in Seattle, he worked with alice in chains on facelift and dirt. The tone you hear was from a Spector NS-2 bass, Ampeg SVT-II amp head, SVT-810E cabinet and on the Dirt album I also used an ART SGX Nightbass in addition to the miked up cabinet and direct box.
Right from the guy who was there!"
