Mike Starr's Bass Guitars
If you watch Would? In the music video, you can see that his Spector bass has black tuners which the NS-2a basses had, and dotted fret markers which the NS-2A basses also had. The bridge is black with black tuners and hardware like NS-2A basses have so this is the case. However I’m almost positive he recorded Dirt with a NS-2.
Throughout the video we can see Mike playing his sunburst Spector NS-2. He also owned a white and a black one.
Mike Starr used a Fender Jazz Bass while recording the song "Black Cloud." This is evidenced by a user-uploaded photo.
Bassist Mike Starr can be seen playing a Rickenbacker 4001 in his original band "Sato." He commonly used this bass during gigs. Not really sure what happened to it, but he later became known for playing Spector NS-2 basses with Alice in Chains.
Mike Starr used the Washburn B-70RS bass during early live performances and on the initial EPs from the "Facelift" era. This is evidenced by a user-uploaded photo.
In a user-uploaded photo, it is shown that Mike Starr used a Kramer Ferrington Acoustic Bass to double-track on Alice in Chains' "Facelift" and "Dirt" albums.
as you see here mike is playing a gibson grabber ll bass
its the model ll cause you see the silver pickups and the color black over the headstock and body (and black pickguard)
In this user-uploaded photo, Mike Starr is seen playing a Kramer Forum III bass guitar, likely from a period before he switched to using a Spector.
In this picture you can see Mike holding this bass you can tell by the headstock and body
According to Rock Stars Guitars, Mike Starr owned and used a Japanese Höfner 500/1 Style Bass.
