Rick Graham's Gear
In this video from Charvel, Rich Graham discusses his signature model guitar saying:
This new Charal signature has been a real journey. When my first model came out, it felt like a milestone. It captured who I was at the time, what I needed, and what I wanted to say as a player. But time moves on, and so do we. Since then, a lot has changed in my playing and in my life. I've been through a few ups and downs, and I've had to take a step back at times, but in that space, I found myself reconnecting with the reason why I started all this in the first place. The love of the instrument, the feeling it gives you, the sound that takes you somewhere.
So, this new signature, it's kind of a reflection of that, of who I am now and where I'm heading. Holding on to what I love from the original, but taking things further. We've kept the shape, but this time we've gone with resonant older. There's still that lower back scallop for comfort, but it's now paired with a super fast maple neck and a reverse headstock. A little nod to the players that live a spark for me. I've always been a huge fan of relics. They just look and feel like they've already lived a bit, like they have a story to tell. Finished in nitrocellulose. It's calling out to be picked up and for those stories to continue.
As for the hardware, what I need is still there. The same Gotoh 510 that worked before, but now we have new custom wound pickups in an HSS configuration. Everything just feels more refined, versatile, powerful, and beautifully voiced. This guitar isn't a reinvention. It's a continuation. It's evolved. It's everything I need right now. And everything I love about playing guitar distilled into one instrument. I'm very proud of it. And I hope when people pick it up that they feel that too.
