Sam Totman
Sam Totman's Gear
In this post, Sam can be seen using a yellow Ibanez RG. We can see it is an RG550DY Genesis Collection, due to the square neck joint and desert sun yellow color. He switched to this on the Extreme Power Metal Tour in 2019 after using the Ibanez Iceman shape for years.
Sam mentions his rack at 14:07 and it includes the rocktron as his main amp and preamp
The VBT700 was born out of a design for a custom V-shaped guitar that was made for Dragonforce guitarist Sam Totman, however this guitar was not marketed as a signature model (source: https://ibanez.fandom.com/wiki/VBT700). He is seen using it in this video.
He has one in Royal blue. Can be seen at 13:22 in his Rig Rundown.
The second version of his signature model. Seen at 13:45 of his Rig Rundown.
They're included in his signature Ibanez Iceman STM2. He talks about it in his Rig Rundown at 13:45.

In this video, Sam Totman demos his signature Ibanez Iceman STM.
In this Youtube video, his band mate, Herman Li mentioned Ibanez RG550-DY Genesis as Sam's guitar, while play on one of these. Sam Totman uses this guitar on Extreme power metal tour.
Used on Valley Of The Damned through Inhuman Rampage, replaced with an Ibanez V and then his signature Iceman.
In Dragonforce's video for "Power Of The Triforce", Sam is playing a B.C. Rich Ironbird Prophecy Mk. 2
According to the Dimarzio website he uses both - DP158 and DP159 .
In this video at 3:31, Sam Totman can be seen using the Ibanez Prestige seven string standard, entirely unmodded
Sam Totman uses this guitar in the official music video for "Ashes Of The Dawn"
Sam Totman uses the pink Ibanez JEM in this music video. The JEM he used is from Steve Vai's DLR tour in the 80's.
In the "GEAR GODS RIGGED - DragonForce" video, at 3:35, Herman Li showcases the guitars used by Sam Totman during their live performances, including the Ibanez RG3727FZ Prestige model. This guitar is identified by its Prestige series classification, 7 string configuration, Edge Zero 7 tremolo with ZPS stabilizer, HH pickup configuration, flamed maple top in Ibanez's Black Haze finish, and a five-piece maple neck. These features align precisely with the specifications found on the Ibanez product page (linked below), confirming Totman's use of this specific model. https://web.archive.org/web/20160625212817/http://www.ibanez.com/products/u_eg_page15.php?year=2015&cat_id=1&series_id=1&data_id=339&color=CL01
Sam Totman can be seen playing this guitar (with a different finish) throughout the performance. The model that he is seen playing is in Ibanez's Laser Blue finish and was identified from the pickups matching the finish colour, in this case "Laser Blue", the pickguard being present on this model and matching the finish colour, shark tooth inlays that match the finish, having a maple fretboard and the Edge Tremolo it comes equipped with, which matches the specifications on the official product page. https://archive.is/2017.11.30-152741/http://www.ibanez.com/products/eg_detail17.php?year=2017&cat_id=1&series_id=1&data_id=370&area_id=3&color=CL01
In the official music video for Doomsday Party by DragonForce, Sam Totman can first be seen holding a Schecter Synyster Custom at 0:53. He is later shown playing the guitar multiple times throughout the video, including during the dual guitar solo with Herman Li beginning at 3:02.
The guitar can be identified specifically as the Synyster Custom rather than the Schecter Synyster Custom S. The instrument in the video features dual humbucker pickups, consistent with Synyster Gates signature Seymour Duncan Invader SH-8SG pickups (discontinued around 2017), rather than the Sustainiac neck pickup found on the Custom S model.
Additionally, the guitar clearly has a set neck joint rather than the bolt-on neck used on the Synyster Standard, which can be observed by pausing the video at 3:25. At 0:53, the truss rod cover also shows the text “SYNYSTER CUSTOM”, further confirming the model.
