Tom McGuinness' Gear

Hide incorrect submissions

In a 1966 live TV performance in Germany, Tom McGuinness is seen playing a Fender Telecaster, most likely finished in white, judging from the shade. When Klaus Voormann entered to play bass, McGuinness is switched to his main instrument, the electric guitar, and his choice is a Fender Telecaster. Around 1967, he would then paint his Telecaster into a psychedelic finish, seen in some of the Mighty Quinn promotional videos.

In this Beat Club performance of Mighty Quinn, Tom McGuinness is seen playing along with a Vox Folk 12 String. This Vox Folk 12 String has an electric pickup attached, along with volume and tone knobs, in order to broaden the sound and work as an electric 12 string. McGuinness would also use this guitar in recording My Name is Jack, and other records.
