Vintage tewlve string sound
First I must qualify that I am a drummer first, bassist distant second and a novice guitar player. Have had this guitar since the late 60's...picked up in a now "gone" music shop in San Francisco. I bought it because it said VOX...enough said, right? I love the sound, but I have smaller hands and the neck is very wide for me. That said, I have not played it all that much but enjoy it when I do. I have heard criticisms that it is not the best made instrument...I am not qualified to comment on that. I have never had any problems with it other than having to retune when I do play it due to periods of inactivity.

In this photograph from Top of the Pops in 1967, Dave is posing with a Vox Folk Twelve Electric. He can be seen playing this guitar in the same show: Autumn Almanac.
In this live show, Tony Hicks plays "Carrie Anne" on a Vox 240 Folk Twelve electric. It can be seen at 1:30.
This Vox 12 string was not really used much in performances and recording, but one notable song that extensively used this Vox 12 string is Bus Stop, with Tony's 12 string intro. Along with that, as mentioned above, it is used in Carrie Anne, in both recording and the BBC performance. But besides that, it is not really used, though it can be heard in For Certain Because, with the song Crusader.
In a Rig Rundown with Premier Guitar, Paul Moak discusses his use of the Vox V240 Folk Twelve Electro, noting that it is a cherished instrument that originally belonged to his father. The guitar retains its original magnetic pickup at the neck, with an additional piezo pickup installed by Moak himself.
In this Beat Club performance of Mighty Quinn, Tom McGuinness is seen playing along with a Vox Folk 12 String. This Vox Folk 12 String has an electric pickup attached, along with volume and tone knobs, in order to broaden the sound and work as an electric 12 string. McGuinness would also use this guitar in recording My Name is Jack, and other records.
