Create your Equipboarddrum-machine 2
This is the most creative drum-synth ever. Calling it as drum machine I think is a forced definition.
The pros: infinite creative capabilities. Great sound generators, just 4 only (kick/bass/snare/hats) but very versatile, you can easily obtain a large palette of different sounds with very interesting sound timbres. The bass sound generator is a real monophonic synth. Also it can be potentially connected to any external sound source based to CV. Master output plus 6 extra separated outputs. Interesting semi-random generator called SHAOS. A good multi-effects setup (delay, reverb, distortion), filters, noise, inverter, envelope generators, S&H, LFOs, VCAs, 8 mini-jack inputs/outputs. Solid construction materials..
The cons: it's not a drum machine in the traditional analog way. No step sequencer but just a looper (that obviously it resend you all within, errors too), no beat resampling and no quantize adjusting (the new produced models have this feature switching the kick sound mode; about the previous models, it's possible to buy a different PCB to self mounting). Different voltage with eurorack modules (you need a scale/offset module). Just a Midi-in port only. Alligator clips are a bit uncomfortable, especially to use in live sessions.
And also it's really expensive (but this is not the only case in the world...).
After an initial negative response, now I found it as fantastic instrument: if you like experimenting, fading the lines between drones and drumming, I'm sure this is the best choice possible. Thanks for your attention. (Sorry for my english)
synthesizer 2
effect-pedals 3
My fav reverb/echo pedal effect ever, in my modest opinion it's absolutely great to every aspects, using it with my Pulsar-23, eurorack modular synth and handmade percussive instruments too. Successor of the great RE-20 dual pedal, that was based to the glorious Roland RE-201 Space Echo. Actually Boss is offering this RE-2 and the RE-202 with 3 way (if i'm not wrong).
DAW 1
Born as "live" oriented package, now Ableton Live, is a complete Digital Audio Workstation, in particular the Suite version, probably the most one with Pro Tools.
You can do anything you want with this software package. Also the included software synthesizers, like Operator, Drum Rack and more, are real professional synth with all the better features possible. The possibility to create personal rack and macros with them and the effects toolset is excellent. Personally I love this software.
VST Plugins 8
The most creative digital sound processing suite. Infinite possibilities. A real sonic universe to explore is open in front of you! All customizable too. And the Blocks are fantastic as well as the new Rack features (simulating the modular cable patching).
In my modest opinion, the best effect plugin suite. Must have. Whatever is your genre and your sound style this suite is really useful to all aspects. Just lack a bit about mastering and dynamics toolset (compressor, limiter) but this is not the first goal of this suite. If you want create, retouch, manipulate and/or destroy your music, Soundtoys 5 is the top best. Decapitator, Echoboy, Little Plate, Cristallizer, Filter Freaks 1 and 2, PanMan, Tremolator, ecc, ecc, ecc. are all amazing plugins. Actually ST is offering them with a reducted price.
Sorry for my bad english. Thanks.
In my modest opinion, 2C Audio Aether is one of the best algorithmic reverb plugins on the market. It's simply perfect if you like to explore (dark) ambient soundscapes. Come with a large library of excellent presets (expandible with addons) and extensive manipulation capabilities remaining very intuitive. 2C Audio make some other great reverb plugins but I feel very confortable with Aether like no other. Just my modest opinion (sorry for my bad english).
Very useful equalization plugins suite by Universal Audio (UAD). It consists of 3 different gears, all based to the legendary Pultec EQP-1A hardware equalizer.
One of the original buffer effects, and still one of the best. Version 2 adds the Stutter effect, for further divisions of the loop. It's like glitch-ception! From a simple delay or panning effect, on up to massive random beat mangling, Replicant is a capable plugin well in line with today's electronic music styles. Stuttering buffers and filter drops are easy to program, and the comprehensive randomization features give it a mind of its own, if so desired. If you're looking to add some chance to your production, you've come to the right place!
