one of the most creative sample-based modular synth ever

The Tape and Microsound Music Machine by Make Noise is one of the most creative modular synthesizer ever: it's based to the Morphagene module (sampler) sound source, no oscillators nor 1v/Oct, just captured sounds to modulate (and also destroy, if you prefer) in all the way possible and more. It's composed by the Maths (the most versatile eurorack module ever), Wogglebug 2 (randomizer), MULT (multiple), QPAS (stereo filter), Mimeophon (delay/reverb and more), XOH (stereo output) and like said by the Morphagene. All modulare are mounted in a Skiff case. There are 10 hp free to adding more customization improvements.

Excellent

In my modest opinion, the ADDAC200PI (Pedal Integrator) from ADDAC System is one of the best eurorack module to connect stereo effect pedals to your modular synth. You can connect 2 mono or 1 stereo pedal chains. Never noticed issues at all. Very recommended.

Excellent

My favourite distortion plugin. Versatile and intuitive with good experimental capacities. Very recommended.

Excellent

Of course it's not the same matter of its original hardware counterpart but this plugin version is really excellent and it make a great job in all type of sounds (drums, bass, vocals, pads, etc.). Personally I like it so much and it's active in every track I do. (sorry for my bad english)

Preferred Settings + Usage:

808 drums presets

Excellent

Very useful equalization plugins suite by Universal Audio (UAD). It consists of 3 different gears, all based to the legendary Pultec EQP-1A hardware equalizer.

Pultec EQP based equilizer plugin

Sorry for my bad english. Waves PuigTec EQs is one of the clones of the legendary hardware equalizer Pultec EQP as AU/VST plugin software, I like this Waves Audio version because I think this version had the best rate from quality to cost. Very recommended.

Awesome! The best (free) reverb plugin.

ValhallaDSP Supermassive is the best free reverb plugin. In my modest opinion, it's absolutely fantastic, specially the new 2.5 version with the new improved algorythms. Valhalla DSP produce some of the best commercial reverb, delay and echo plugins (with very affordable price), all excellent but Supermassive is at the same top level.

One of the most weird but amazing eurorack module

Mutable Instruments Beads is the successor of the great Clouds, with more adding features. I loved the Clouds and its clones (Monsoon in particular) but I love so much the Beads. It's fundamental for me. Granular synthesis tool with wavetable oscillator, randomizer, delay, pitch-shifter, reverb. The most creative, weird, crazy and genial module ever.

Excellent dual complex wavetable oscillator

Intellijel Shapeshiter by Cyclonix is one of the best eurorack wavetable oscillator module ever. It's a dual complex digital oscillator based to wavetable sound library. In my modest opinion, it is the best digital oscillator I have had. It plays everything.

the best eurorack sampler module

In my modest opinion, the Make Noise Morphagene is the best eurorack sample-based module ever. It's a sort of mini-studio able to manipulate the samples in every form possible. I think it's a must have for everybody wants play ambient atmospheres and sample-based sonic textures. And more...

Fantastic!

The most creative digital sound processing suite. Infinite possibilities. A real sonic universe to explore is open in front of you! All customizable too. And the Blocks are fantastic as well as the new Rack features (simulating the modular cable patching).

Preferred Settings + Usage:

my fav features are the Blocks and the Sound Generators.

Awesomeness. The best DAW ever.

Born as "live" oriented package, now Ableton Live, is a complete Digital Audio Workstation, in particular the Suite version, probably the most one with Pro Tools. You can do anything you want with this software package. Also the included software synthesizers, like Operator, Drum Rack and more, are real professional synth with all the better features possible. The possibility to create personal rack and macros with them and the effects toolset is excellent. Personally I love this software.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

I like: Instrumental Rack and Macros capabilities, CV Tools, mastering/mixing toolset, audio-to-midi features, spectral based tools, M4L... And of course, the user-interface. I dislike: nothing.

Awesome.

In my modest opinion, the best effect plugin suite. Must have. Whatever is your genre and your sound style this suite is really useful to all aspects. Just lack a bit about mastering and dynamics toolset (compressor, limiter) but this is not the first goal of this suite. If you want create, retouch, manipulate and/or destroy your music, Soundtoys 5 is the top best. Decapitator, Echoboy, Little Plate, Cristallizer, Filter Freaks 1 and 2, PanMan, Tremolator, ecc, ecc, ecc. are all amazing plugins. Actually ST is offering them with a reducted price. Sorry for my bad english. Thanks.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

Decapitator + Little Alterboy on aggressive vocal parts (if you like industrial rock, nu metal and similar. Infact, they are the fav FX-plugins of T. Reznor, A. Cortini and more).

Awesome

Izotope Iris 2, sample-based synthesizer software with drawing approach. In my modest opinion, it's one of the most creative and underrated music instrument as synth-software. It works as plugin and standalone, based to 4 samples, loaded from the large library expanded with your personal custom samples and shared libraries of them too. Multi effects bank, envelopes, and more. User interface show the wave of the selected samples and it's possible to edit it manipulating the sound with a graphic approach, using a sort of Photoshop toolset! Fundamental tool for my purposes, in particular for ambient/drone sounds. Sadly, in this days iZotope has declared Iris 2 as discontinued (with others fantastic tools like Trash 2 and Break Tweaker too). Sorry for my bad english.

Excellent Quad VCA/Mixer module

Doepfer stands for value for money, quality and accessibility at the same time. If I could, I would love to do an entire Doepfer eurorack modular gear, just assembled with that brand modules only! A-135-2 is perfect for my purposes: 8hp TE, quad VCA/CV Mixer with 4 attenuated CV inputs, 4 audio inputs and also 4 outputs plus 1 global output and also 1 dedicated output too. Absolutely affordable as performance. This is the second one I purchased, actually with the black panel (Vintage version). Turning back to the modular side, this is the first module I purchased for my new gear. Very recommended for limited budget and limited space rack. Thanks (sorry for my bad english).

the most creative synth drum

This is the most creative drum-synth ever. Calling it as drum machine I think is a forced definition. The pros: infinite creative capabilities. Great sound generators, just 4 only (kick/bass/snare/hats) but very versatile, you can easily obtain a large palette of different sounds with very interesting sound timbres. The bass sound generator is a real monophonic synth. Also it can be potentially connected to any external sound source based to CV. Master output plus 6 extra separated outputs. Interesting semi-random generator called SHAOS. A good multi-effects setup (delay, reverb, distortion), filters, noise, inverter, envelope generators, S&H, LFOs, VCAs, 8 mini-jack inputs/outputs. Solid construction materials.. The cons: it's not a drum machine in the traditional analog way. No step sequencer but just a looper (that obviously it resend you all within, errors too), no beat resampling and no quantize adjusting (the new produced models have this feature switching the kick sound mode; about the previous models, it's possible to buy a different PCB to self mounting). Different voltage with eurorack modules (you need a scale/offset module). Just a Midi-in port only. Alligator clips are a bit uncomfortable, especially to use in live sessions. And also it's really expensive (but this is not the only case in the world...). After an initial negative response, now I found it as fantastic instrument: if you like experimenting, fading the lines between drones and drumming, I'm sure this is the best choice possible. Thanks for your attention. (Sorry for my english)

Fundamental.

The real "swiss army" of analog music. Intuitive and totally reliable. USB based, MIDI Out (with adapter), 2 x CV-Gate outputs, Sync In-Out, native Korg MS20 (and more) total compatibility. It's a perfect example of a cheaper but reliable gear. Maybe it lacks to some function (clock input is possible via USB/MIDI only) but it's not an issue. Perfect for portability too. Price excellent and accessible to all.

Amazing algorithmic reverb

In my modest opinion, 2C Audio Aether is one of the best algorithmic reverb plugins on the market. It's simply perfect if you like to explore (dark) ambient soundscapes. Come with a large library of excellent presets (expandible with addons) and extensive manipulation capabilities remaining very intuitive. 2C Audio make some other great reverb plugins but I feel very confortable with Aether like no other. Just my modest opinion (sorry for my bad english).

Mangler Buffer Effect

One of the original buffer effects, and still one of the best. Version 2 adds the Stutter effect, for further divisions of the loop. It's like glitch-ception! From a simple delay or panning effect, on up to massive random beat mangling, Replicant is a capable plugin well in line with today's electronic music styles. Stuttering buffers and filter drops are easy to program, and the comprehensive randomization features give it a mind of its own, if so desired. If you're looking to add some chance to your production, you've come to the right place!
