"I'm playing my new guitar. This is an Epiphone my brother got me, props to Bill Stevens. But I like to call it an 'Epi-phon-e'. I'm tuned D-A-C-G-A-E (...)"

Custom-made for Stevens, as described in this February 21, 2017 Facebook post.
One of the coolest things ever ever EVER happened to me 3 days ago. We're talking serious life lemonade from lemons action. Want to hear the whole epic story? OK, I'll tell it to you here:
Michelle Willis and I were on a little east coast tour in a rental car just following the GroundUp Music Festival in Miami. Due to sweltering heat in #Miami followed by fluctuating temperatures as we made our way up to GA, my beloved #Charango's bridge came loose completely, leaving the bridge pickup dangling by a thread. :(
As luck would have it, our upcoming and final show was in my hometown & I happened to know a handful of guitar repairmen / makers in NC. Tom Henry offered to fix it but assured me that I would not be able to play it in time for our show that night at University of North Carolina School of the Arts (my high school alma mater!) .
During my search to find someone who could loan me a charango for that show Michelle recommended that I reach out to Wes Lambe, very talented guitar maker in Hillsboro, NC. To which Wes Lambe Guitars texted back that he had coincidentally never heard of a Charango until this month when oddly THREE different ones had shown up in his studio for repair. (?!) At the end of his text he said "maybe I could make becca one overnight", to which I said to Michelle "hand me your phone"!!!
To make a long story short, Wes the Wizard (which is what I reckon I will call him from now on) made me an electric (dark purple cuz purple is my fave) charango in under 24 hours. (?!!!??) He said it was "One of the most ill advised lutherie endeavors that he has ever attempted." He kept trying to stop working on it but the necessary parts would just appear in his shop, Including Charlie Hunter's old pickup which is the centerpiece of this work of art :-) Inspired by the shape of my white strat, courtesy of David Crosby , This dreamboat will break your heart. I mean seriously how HAWT is she?!???!
Anyway, we are a match made in heaven. If this is just a prototype, I shudder to think what #WesTheWizard can create in a month. Stay tuned... (pun intended) ????
