EVH is a guitar and amplifier brand created in partnership with Fender Musical Instruments Corporation, launched at NAMM 2007. The brand traces its roots to Eddie Van Halen's lifelong pursuit of his ideal tone and playability, drawing on decades of hands-on experimentation with custom-built instruments and modified gear. Before the Fender partnership, Van Halen collaborated with Peavey from the mid-1990s through 2004 on the Peavey EVH Wolfgang, establishing the foundations of what would become the EVH line.
The brand's flagship products span several distinct lines. The Wolfgang series — named after Eddie's son Wolfgang Van Halen — reflects his preferences for fast-playing necks and high-output humbuckers. The Striped Series recreates the iconic blocked and striped paint schemes from his famous custom guitars, most notably the red, black, and white 5150 design. The EVH 5150 III amplifier series, available in 100-watt, 50-watt, and compact "lunchbox" formats, became widely respected among high-gain players for its three-channel versatility and the tight, aggressive character associated with Van Halen's studio and live tones. EVH also produces accessories including strings, picks, cables, and straps.
Eddie Van Halen remained closely involved in product development throughout his life, and the brand carries the reputation of being built to exacting standards rather than as a passive licensing arrangement. The EVH line occupies a niche at the intersection of collectible tribute gear and legitimate high-performance instruments, appealing both to Van Halen devotees and players drawn to its super-Strat-style ergonomics and powerful amplification.
EVH has 142 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Solid Body Electric Guitars, Guitar Amplifier Heads, and Combo Guitar Amplifiers. Their gear is featured by 250 artists, with the strongest followings in Rock, Metal, and Pop. Notable users include Eddie Van Halen, Wolfgang Van Halen, and Dan Palmer. Most EVH products sit firmly in the high-end, boutique range.
