Audient is a British pro audio company founded in 1997 by David Dearden and Gareth Davies, headquartered in Herriard, Hampshire, England. Dearden and Davies previously co-founded DDA (Dearden-Davies Associates) in 1980, a company renowned for its mixing console designs before it was acquired by Klark Teknik. With Audient, the pair set out to build high-quality analog recording consoles for the emerging digital era, debuting the ASP8024 large-format inline recording console in 1998. The company has since expanded into a full range of studio hardware, including the compact ASP4816 console, the ASP800 and ASP880 rackmount microphone preamplifiers, and the ASP510 surround sound monitor controller.
Audient entered the desktop audio interface market in 2013 with the iD22, followed by the iD14, iD4, iD44, iD24, and iD48 — a range that brought the company's console-grade mic preamp designs to home studios. In 2020, Audient launched EVO, a sub-brand focused on simplicity and accessibility, featuring products like the EVO 4, EVO 8, and EVO 16 interfaces with Smartgain automatic level-setting technology. The company also produces monitor controllers including the NERO desktop unit and the ORIA immersive audio monitor controller. Audient consoles and interfaces can be found in professional facilities including Abbey Road Studios and Pete Townshend's Eel Pie Studios, as well as in music production programs at institutions like the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts.
