It looks like a toy, but it's awesome !!
My very first impression of this was that the GUI looked like it had been designed by a 5 year old, but in the plugin group I'm a member of, loads of people were saying "just try it !!" and were praising it's sound, and it is indeed, a brilliant little curiosity. It makes things sound beefy by adding this fantastic warmth that is very difficult to describe with any accuracy. It makes things sound Lo-Fi, but in a very very good way, and it's an oxymoron, but it has a high quality Lo-Fi. So yeah, it looks like a child's crayon drawing stuck to a fridge, but don't let lt's looks deprive you of the experience. I even like the GUI now. Maybe it was deliberately designed this way to remind us to be playful and imaginative.
If so, mission accomplished =)

Must have plugin number one; SketchCassette II. This plugin was created by Aberrant DSP. I have been using this for a couple years now. This is version 2, and it is super powerful for getting a dirt sound. Pretty much every loop I load into my DAW, if I want to gritty it up and dirty it up, SketchCassette is a go-to.
