Critic Reviews

Acer Aspire V5 review: beauty and no brains | PCWorld

pcworld.com

The Acer Aspire V5 might look sleek and sturdy with its smooth touchscreen and decent video/audio experience, but it's a classic case of style over substance. Plagued by poor performance, a low-resolution display, and dismal battery life, this laptop fails to deliver where it matters most. Its performance scores fall significantly behind competitors, making it a less attractive option for those seeking value in functionality. While its design might trick you into thinking it's an Ultrabook, the reality is a heavier, underpowered device with too many compromises.

The Acer Aspire V5 offers a good build quality and a fast processor at an affordable price, appealing to budget-conscious buyers. However, it's held back by several drawbacks such as running hot under load, a short battery life, and overall lackluster performance. The clunky touchpad and poor sound quality further diminish its appeal. While it's lightweight and portable, better options are available for slightly more investment. Overall, it's a decent option if budget is a priority, but not the best in its class.

It's a good product, but there are some downfalls about it.

So I've had my version of the Acer Aspire V5 (the 551 series) for almost 3 years now. In terms of performance, it does pretty well for as old as it is. However, it has had some major problems in the time that I have had it, like the display on the screen being broken, as well as the optical drive breaking as well. When it was newer, it did pretty good in terms of performance, but it is in NO way a high performance computer, if that's what your looking for. If you are planning on doing anything that's CPU intensive, I would suggest staying away from this.

Decent Laptop

Decent for gaming (mine has an amd graphics card). Only problems I see with production is the various bugs and issues with windows and latency, which can be fixed with Asio

I don't think I would bother using a laptop for production. Especially if you plan on using anything high end like after effects and such.

IMO laptops are better for production, bc u can work anywhere and perform anywhere
