In this 1990 Interview, the interviewer asks "I was looking at your record collection, I was wondering where the Hendrix records are." and at 0:05 before Frusciante pulls out a large stack of Hendrix records we can breifly see him move aside what appears to be a Coral Electric Sitar.
In this July/August 2014, article from Collectible Guitar covers the history a rare, one-off Left-Handed Coral Electric Sitar said to have been made for Jimi Hendrix by Danelectro founder Nat Daniel.
The article states that Vincent Bell (the Electric Sitar's designer) claimed that Hendrix owned two Right-Handed Sitars that he would flip over and string Lefty (one of which was later played onstage by Peter Frampton), with Bell & Daniel later designing a custom Left-Handed model for Hendrix.
Eric Clapton said that he has "..Experimented with this sitar.." and that it has "..a great sound.". He also remarked that he finds it difficult to part with this instrument. Lee Dickson recalls that Pete Townshend borrowed this guitar from Eric for a couple of years.

Comments:
"Frank Zappa had a choral Sitar but I think it was a different brand. I used it quite a bit while I was with him, specifically on “What’s New in Blatimore" and “The Theme to the Third Movement of Sinister Footware." I kept the guitar for a while and could have probably held onto it indefinately but after Frank passed away it felt weird to have it without the family knowing as Frank never conciously said “You keep it”. So I informed Dweezil and he said I could return it. While I had it it started to teribbly chip for some reason. I can’t imagine it was anything I had done to it because I just had it in the case. I decided to buy a new one whcih was alot for me to purchase, I think it was around $500 or so. I have used this choral sitar on virtually every record I ever made with the exception of Flex and Leftovers. I continue to use it. Recently on “The Moon and I”, “Stairway to Heaven” with MJB, etc."
This article from the June 1996 issue of Sound On Sound magazine lists the Coral Sitar as being among Robert's instruments during the recording of their album Wild Mood Swings.
Used on "Lords of Karma", as stated in this February 1, 2017 Music Radar interview.
“That's a Coral sitar - a vintage one that I borrowed from a guy named Ratdog at Subway Guitars in Berkeley, California - playing those opening chords. We recorded it direct and then just applied a really cool mic pre and stuff like that to it."
In this interview from Guitar Player Magazine available on website Jawaka Wiki, Zappa talks about his guitar collection
Relaxed and an exteriorly unemotional man, Zappa is a humorous and informative talker with many oblique and entertaining views. We began by talking about his guitar collection. I have several different kinds of acoustical guitars, and they all have different sounds and different modifications. I have a fretless and a Coral sitar which has been modified and various other guitars which all do special kinds of feedback and things like that.
