Description

Embrace the perfect blend of modern innovation and vintage aesthetics with the PRS SE Silver Sky. This electric guitar, inspired by 1960s classics, is designed with today's musician in mind, providing rich tones and smooth playability at an unbeatable value.

The Silver Sky SE boasts a lightweight poplar body that ensures comfortable play for extended periods. Its bolt-on maple neck and rosewood fingerboard, adorned with PRS's signature bird inlays, bring a touch of elegance to this workhorse instrument. The 22 frets and 25.5" scale length, coupled with an 8.5" fretboard radius and the original 635JM carve profile, offer a blend of vintage feel and modern comfort.

Powering the Silver Sky SE is a trio of 635JM "S" single-coil pickups that deliver crisp highs, punchy lows, and a balanced midrange. Take control of your tone with a master volume control, two tone controls, and a five-way pickup switch. Whether you're laying down articulate funk rhythms or belting out expressive blues leads, this guitar handles it all with ease.

Through meticulous craftsmanship, PRS has equipped the Silver Sky SE with high-quality components such as a synthetic bone nut, a double-acting truss rod, and a two-point steel tremolo bridge. Its vintage-style tuners and inverted headstock pay homage to the classics of the 1960s, while the bird inlays add a touch of modern style.

Critic Reviews

PRS SE Silver Sky review | Guitar World

guitarworld.com

The PRS SE Silver Sky delivers impressive build quality and sound at an accessible price, rivaling even high-end models. Its neck shape and playability stand out, making it a joy to play. However, the lack of customization options and limited color choices might leave some wanting more. Overall, it’s a compelling choice for guitarists looking for a premium feel without the hefty price tag.

positive

PRS SE Silver Sky Review - Premier Guitar

premierguitar.com

The PRS SE Silver Sky is a stunningly crafted homage to classic S-style guitars, delivering exceptional playability and tone at a competitive price point. With its comfortable neck and versatile pickups, this instrument shines in various playing styles. However, some purists might question the materials used compared to its pricier counterpart. Overall, it's a fantastic option for guitarists seeking quality and affordability, making it a must-try for fans of the S-style sound.

positive

PRS SILVER SKY SE | REVIEW - Guitar Interactive Magazine

guitarinteractivemagazine.com

The PRS SE Silver Sky brings a tantalizing taste of John Mayer's signature sound at a more accessible price. While it retains much of the charm and aesthetic of its core counterpart, some compromises are evident in its construction and materials—like a poplar body instead of alder. However, the 635JM "S" pickups impress with their rich, full tones, offering a unique twist on classic single-coil sounds. Although the flatter fretboard and taller frets enhance playability, it’s slightly less "specialized" than the original. Overall, this model is a fantastic option for guitarists seeking quality without breaking the bank, but purists may find the differences hard to overlook.

It's a true Silver Sky

Most of the same things I said in my review of the core model can be applied here. It doesn't feel quite as smooth and doesn't stay in tune guitar as miraculously as its American counterpart, but it still fulfills those things very well. One of the best options for a guitar under $1,000.
