Electro-Harmonix 15Watt Howitzer Power Amp review: A tiny amp with supersized tones

guitar.com

The Electro-Harmonix 15Watt Howitzer delivers surprisingly robust tones in a compact design, making it a viable option for gigging and recording. While it excels in clean sounds and offers a useful effects loop, it struggles with higher gain settings, lacking the excitement of a full valve amp. The lack of a power switch and dull performance when bypassing the preamp are notable drawbacks. Ideal for those seeking portability over raw power, it’s a solid choice, but not without its limitations.

AN AMP WITHOUT THE SPEAKER

A great amp for a lower price without the speaker. You can crank it for stage usage or keep it low for bed room playing/recording. HOWEVER if you don't get a speaker for this its pretty much useless. I tried plugging it into my daw so I could record directly into my computer but it produces way to much electricity for that. Also this is more of a personal pet peeve but it has no on/off switch so every time I want to save power I have to unplug it and it kinda makes me nervous that I'm damaging it some how. I mean the power cable literally sparks every time I try to plug it back into the Howitzer and I just have to choose to ignore it. So I recommend plugging it into a Surge Protector or something and use that as the on/off switch.

Preferred Settings + Usage:
