  • Installing an SSD significantly boosts performance, especially under Vista, even though Aero glass may struggle with Intel graphics from the era.

Features and functionality

  • Models with the 9200m or 9600m graphics are preferred due to Intel's poor performance, despite a higher idle power draw of around 17 watts.

  • Intel integrated graphics from this era often cannot handle HD video playback, which can be disappointing on the 1280x800 display of the DV6.

Review HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook - NotebookCheck.net Reviews

HP Pavilion dv6 offers an enticing price-to-performance ratio for budget multimedia users. It comes with a decent 15.6" display and adequate port options, but its glossy surfaces and lackluster gaming performance may turn off some users. The fan noise is a constant presence, and the battery life is underwhelming. While the design is appealing and offers a full numeric keypad, the sticky keyboard and touchpad detract from its usability. If you’re seeking a budget-friendly device for basic tasks and don't mind the noise, it might suit your needs. Otherwise, consider a higher-spec model for gaming.
