6-core/12-thread Core i7 for $200, i7-5820K Revisited | TechSpot

techspot.com

Intel's Core i7-5820K remains a solid choice for budget-conscious gamers and enthusiasts who don't need cutting-edge performance. While newer CPUs offer better productivity and efficiency, the 5820K still holds its own in gaming when paired with a capable GPU. Overclocking provides a decent performance boost, though at the cost of increased power consumption. For those considering a second-hand option, it offers great value, especially if you're upgrading from an older system. However, keep in mind that it won't match the latest CPUs in single-threaded tasks. Overall, it's a reliable performer for its price.

The Intel Haswell-E CPU Review: Core i7-5960X, i7-5930K and i7-5820K Tested

anandtech.com

The Intel Core i7-5820K offers a compelling entry point into the Haswell-E lineup with its six-core architecture, DDR4 support, and competitive pricing just under $400. Despite offering only 28 PCIe 3.0 lanes, which limits its ability to support 4-way SLI, it provides more than adequate performance for most gaming and prosumer applications. While the increased TDP demands better cooling solutions, its overclocking capability remains a highlight. This CPU represents a smart choice for users seeking powerful, cost-effective performance without the need for extreme multi-GPU setups. Overall, the review is favorable, highlighting the CPU’s strengths in a balanced manner.

Intel Core i7 5820K Haswell-E (6-core) CPU Review | KitGuru

kitguru.net

Intel's Core i7-5820K impresses as an affordable entry into the high-end desktop market with its six hyper-threading cores and strong overclocking capacity. It offers excellent multi-threaded performance and a competitive price, making it a standout choice in the Haswell-E lineup. However, the X99 platform's high buy-in cost and the 5820K's limited stock-clock performance at 3.6GHz are drawbacks. For those seeking future-proofing with DDR4 memory and ample PCIe lanes without breaking the bank, the 5820K is a compelling option, especially for tasks beyond gaming.

More cores than an apple tree.

6 individual, overclockable, hyperthreaded cores (12 logical) at a default of 3.3GHz & 15MB of cache.

well it is a general purpose computer cpu and has nothing much to do with music production or performance. You can argue that it runs your daw and plugins, but only because they don't need more than a general purpose computer. Sorry to say but I think this shouldn't be on equipboard. And btw it will be hard to spot it in a studio....

tombarnes_dnb

A digital audio workstation with numerous plugin's being used and a mixer running in-real time with a midi-keyboard & external soundcard regarless of other recording equipment atatched will infact utilize most every core on a central processing unit. For this reason it is extremely useful and infact more sensible of a decision to have a well clocked CPU and other performance hadrware of a PC at hand to better optimize production within a programme on a PC.
